Description

Sport 4-valve cylinder head Malossi Maxi 4V is intended for liquid-cooled Piaggio 125–300cc 4T Leader and Quasar engines. It is developed to improve flow through the cylinder head and, depending on the configuration, is intended to increase engine performance.

The head is made from cast aluminium alloy, additionally hardened and sandblasted, and precisely machined. The intake ports are machined to 25 mm, while the exhaust ports are machined to 22.2 mm.

Important regarding compatibility and installation

Piaggio 125–200cc

On 125–200cc engines, the head is suitable only in combination with the appropriate Malossi cylinder kit and a 4-valve piston version.

Piaggio 250–300cc

On 250–300cc engines, it can be used with the original cylinder, but with the original piston a minor modification according to the supplied Malossi instructions is required.

Older head version – sliding rocker arms

The head is primarily intended for engines with the older Piaggio head version, which uses sliding valve rocker arms. This version was mostly used up to approximately 2014, and on some models even longer.

During installation, the appropriate parts of the valve mechanism must be transferred from the original head, such as the rocker arms, camshaft and associated parts.

For an additional increase in performance, a Malossi camshaft can be used:

Newer head version – roller rocker arms

On newer Piaggio engines with roller rocker arms, which were mostly used from approximately 2014 onwards, the original valve mechanism cannot be used directly in the Malossi head.

In this case, an additional valve mechanism conversion kit is required:

• 125–200cc: KIT.PI.39397 + camshaft RPM.5911962
• 250–300cc: KIT.PI.39402 + camshaft RPPI-8759585

This particular requirement mainly applies to newer versions of the Gilera Runner 125 ST, Piaggio Beverly 125, Beverly 300, X-Evo, X10 and Vespa GTS 125–300 and GTV 300 models.

Note

Before ordering, it is necessary to check the engine displacement and type as well as the version of the original head and valve rocker arms. For this product, compatibility should not be determined solely by the vehicle model and year, as different versions of the valve mechanism were used on individual models.
