Iridium IX spark plugs provide extremely good ignition, long service intervals, improved response when adding gas, high resistance to failures and reduction emissions, which leads to a reduction in fuel consumption. The 0.6 mm thick electrode is made of iridium, which makes it very durable, as iridium has an extremely high melting point (2400 °C). While with standard spark plugs the distance between the electrodes increases with time and can affect the quality of the spark, it does not change with Iridium IX plugs.
